Sizemore Family Farms

Our lamb story begins in 2013 when we decided that our two young boys needed to learn first hand about hard work and responsibility.  We were also concerned about a world that was becoming ever more focused on faster and cheaper even if it meant poisoning our bodies and our planet.  We loved the idea of knowing where our food came from and how it was raised.

We purchased a ram and two ewes from a now good friend and farm mentor so that we could raise them on our small (9 acre) homestead at the time.  A few years later with boys turning into young men we moved back into town but fortunately had another good friend generously offer to board our sheep on his lush pastures where they continued to thrive for several years.  We slowly grew the flock and learned a lot of hard lessons along the way as we produced enough lamb for ourselves and family friends.  Fast forward to 2019 when we finally found our dream location to establish Sizemore Family Farms in Cairo, Georgia.  We bought a little over 100 acres of pastures and pine trees and moved the flock to their new home.

As word got out that we were producing a healthy and local alternative to grain fed and feedlot finished meat, it became obvious that if we began to offer our lamb to the public we would not be able to keep up with demand,  so in 2020 we doubled our flock and began selling to an increasing local clientele.  Now just shy of 50 head we intend to stay small to maximize the well-fare of our animals and the quality of the final product for our consumers.
